You're invited to a worldwide mums' party
Submitted by Pippa on Sun 01 Apr
Story of Mum is one! On Wednesday 4 April from 8-9pm BST (click here to see your timezone) we're having a party to celebrate our first birthday. A free party that you can all come to, wherever you are. (Admittedly you do need to be at a computer, and ontwitter, but that's much easier than you think...)
Here are all the party details. We're really excited about trying something new, and equally terrified that the 'party' will be me and my mum popping virtual party poppers and watching lonely tumbleweed blowing through the twitterverse. So please join us.
To spur you on, here are 10 reasons why mums should join twitter, (including support like #ppdchat, virtual coffee in the #badnightcoffeeclub, and celebrities on the#nightfeed). Just head to twitter and follow the simple instructions to sign up. Type "storyofmum" in the search box and you'll quickly find us and other lovely mums to follow.
You'll find more mums at the party AND you could win a fabulous prize (we'll send it wherever you are!) - there's a £50 voucher for Frugi, £40 for Picaloulou, a coffee cosy from Poppy Treffry, and supermum treats from Tea Monkey. If that's not enough of an incentive, one especially (un)lucky mum will get their very own award hand-squidged from plasticine and gold spray made by me... Of course if you'd rather make yourself an award, please do - we'd love more mums to celebrate themselves. What award do you most deserve?
This month's activity is another chance to celebrate an individual mum, Send a Supermum Postcard. It could be your mum, another mum you know, or a mum you admire - simply send them a note to tell them they're fantastic, and upload a picture of your card and message. Rather wonderfully, the Milton Keynes Story of Mum group recently met for the first time and you can already see some of their new postcards online.
Last but definitely not least, the wonderful Hannah at Mama Bear With Me wrote her first ever guest post for us in March - it's a fabulously creative way of explaining a complex modern family tree to her kids that reminds us of Decorate Your Family Tree. Don't miss it.
What an amazing year - thank you so much to all of you for your support, we couldn't have done it without you. Please share the website with your friends. Together, we can go from strength to strength!
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 4th of April. Party on, magnificent mums...
